Propulsion unit for the 3D models. (wingspan around 1 250mm and an approximate mass/weight 1 250 grams)
The propulsion unit has been tested in the Extana model. We use one of the lightest motors on the market which, combined with the LiFe accumulators, provides a good power reserve.
The JETI Spin 44 controller is capable to power the receiver with five servos. Another important feature of this controller is the possibility to set the cut-off (switch off) voltage at the end of the discharging (i.e. before the accumulator is fully depleted). By setting a higher cut-off voltage we ensure a sufficient amount of energy remaining in the accumulators for the landing manoeuvre. This feature is essential for the LiFePO4 (System A-123) accumulators.

The price of the power unit is very favourable. The base reason is the use of the LiFePO4 accumulators, as they make possible to operate the model with only one accumulator set. The average charging time is about 15 minutes.
The table shows the most important data, helping us to choose a specific kind of accumulator. The measurements have been carried out usually twice, to cover the two typical modes of use - the frequent hard throttle excursions for the adrenaline-type of flying and the gentler kind of power control for the sedate, leisurely style of flying.
